                                      This is museum quality reproduction of a 3 1/4 inch wide badge in sterling silver. It may have been used as hat badge for aviation cadets and the for-runner to the WWII Aviation Cadet Hat insignia. The design is rather unusal and even the prop has a design to the edge.                                                                                           This is sterling silver museum quality reproduction 3 inch Senior Balloon Wing designed by WC Link and is a truly beautiful wing. But someone long ago added the letters "US" on the original in 14k gold. Since the Senior wings were not approved until 1941 and the letters US ended in 1919 I am lost as to how this came into being. Maybe it was anal metal version of he 1917 Military Aeronaut wing. Or it was an original WWI Balloon wing and someone added the star. Our US is gold plated on sterling....

                                                                                            This is a museum quality sterling silver reproduction of a very rare wing. This is thefirst US Pilot wing of the current design. What is interesting is that this wing dates from 1919/1920 and it looks like it could be worn today, actually it could be. Also this wing has a very rare hallmark - From Official Die. Only 100 of these were ever made.
