Gradually introduced from 2008 onwards, the current total of 20 A330 aircraft operated form the backbone of the Russian airlines longhaul fleet. Initially intended only as a stop-gap measure until the delivery of the first Airbus A350 and Boeing 787, they will most probably have to shoulder the majority of the long distance routes for years to come.

After its introduction in 1962, a variety of color schemes were applied to the huge fleet of AN-24s, consisting of several hundred aircraft. A majority of the turboprops received this livery with two blue stripes. Starting in 1972, the many color schemes were standardized throughout the entire fleet. �

Following the purchase of Arkhangelsk Airlines by Aeroflot in 2004, the airline was renamed Aeroflot Nord, and received a variation of Aeroflot's own color scheme, replacing the Russian flag on the stabilizer with snow flakes.

Of the approximately 2,500 aircraft of this unique and robust bi-plane, used by Aeroflot in the 1980s and 1990s, several AN-2s, operating as the main means of transport in the far northern and eastern regions, exchanged the typical Aeroflot blue for red, improving visibility in snow and ice.

During preparations for its 90th anniversary, Aeroflot called on the public to submit ideas for a special livery. The winning anniversary design, based on the traditional Khokloma painting style, was selected from over 7,000 proposals.
