    Pros:
    • Collectibility and value
    • Quality
    • Appearance
    Cons:
SkyMax (SM) is relatively new in the world of diecast planes but they are producing some little gems for collectors. This first release of a Soviet Union LA-5 is a great example of what this company is capable of making and hopefully of more fine models to come. The paint application on the model is excellent with Tampo applied graphics, the colors used for the camo paint are attractive and the panel lines are just right. The model doesn''t have too many loose parts to install. There are the 3 landing gear components which are one piece units. The canopy is also a one piece unit and fits so well that when you first take the model out of the box it seems like you couldn''t remove it but you can. May I suggest that you get some WWII HobbyMaster pilots and make one into Lt.Col. Ivan Kozhedub and put him into the cockpit. A little snip surgery is required by removing his legs from the knees down in order for him to fit properly. Also I put a small piece of sticky foam padding under his butt to give him the proper height in the cockpit otherwise he sits too low in the seat. Well thats the scoop on this little offering from SM. I''ll go out on the limb and say that this model is closely cut from the same mold as a HobbyMaster model. The quality and value are worth adding this plane to your collection.
