Not the most attractive of warplanes, the A6E Intruder has always been one of my top three favorite classic jet aircraft. Of the lines that I collect, Century is my favorite. You pay top dollar for their models, but you get what you pay for. The packaging even says you''re in for a treat when you open the box. As with other model companies, you are given the option of displaying the aircraft in flying or non-flying mode. The stand for flying allows you to attach the landing gear down or gear up. The model sits on the stand with the centerline fuel tank in place with the stand attachment point sliding easily through the bottom of the fuel tank to hold the aircraft in place. The stand base is very secure so as not to allow tipping and there is no fear of the plane falling off the top of the stand. You are supplied with an additional centerline tank that attaches securely to the aircraft that does not have a slot in the bottom of it for stand display, but instead can be shown on it''s gear like other models. When you use the stand, the centerline tank just slides and sits on the stand,as does the model itself. Pretty ingenious. Many companies make this a tight fit so the model won''t fall off the stand. I was a little nervous at first but now I see this as a real positive with this line. The model is well balanced with, I think, the best paint and graphics of any line out there. The gear fits securely with a nice array of weapons choices. All of the add-ons are plastic but have a nice fit in all applications. The cockpit is very well done with great detail as are the pilot and weapons officer seats. I really like the attention to detail in this part of the model. The top of the seats where the pilot pulls the blast shield down over his body has appropriate black and yellow banding around the handles. The canopy glass is done in green shading of the Intruder. There are nice touches all around the jet such as the NO STEP notices on the wing, the cream colored radome, the turbine blades you can see through the engine intakes, and the sliding canopy. The pilot figure detail is not bad for those who like to display with them in the aircraft. This is one of my favorite purchases in some years of collecting. I can only hope that Century will keep producing what I consider the best products on the market. If you have never acquired a Century Wings product you are really missing out on a top notch addition to your collection. They are truly Top of the Line.
