Item Number: IXJ200805The Stirling was the first four-engined British heavy bomber of the Second World War. Built by Short Brothers, it was to have a relatively short operational career and was surpassed by other four-engine RAF bombers, specifically, the Handley-Page Halifax and Avro Lancaster, eventually taking over its role and relegating it to second line duties.
