The National Museum of the United States Air Force, the largest military aviation museum in the world, is located near Dayton, Ohio. One of its larger exhibits is a B-29 Superfortress 99 feet long and with a wingspan of 141 feet. However, this bomber is not just any ordinary B-29, for it is the very aircraft that dropped the Fat Man atomic bomb over Nagasaki on 9 August 1945, the second such attack on Japan. The aircraft bears the name Bocks Car, a pun on the commanders name, Captain Frederick Bock, and boxcar. This B-29 was one of 15 specially modified Silverplate bombers assigned to the 509th Composite Group. Armor and some MG turrets were removed to allow heavy atomic bombs to be carried over longer distances.

Dragon Warbirds has released an impressive 1/144 scale model of Bocks Car. The aircraft is cleanly molded and great care has been lavished on the painting and markings to get them precise. However, its the model aircrafts dioramic scene that really makes it stand out from the crowd. The model is presented on a base and backdrop representing the National Museum of the USAF! Even the authentically scaled museum railings are reproduced by a sophisticated new tooling. The scaled-down information board in front of the aircraft is also set up exactly like that in the museum. This is a novel and visually stimulating item, an ideal way to present this historically significant B-29 aircraft. Now you dont have to travel all the way to Dayton to see Bocks Car, for this museum exhibit can be set up right in your own home!
