Soviet Air Force AN-124 (1:500)

Until the end of the USSR, the in 1919 founded Soviet air force was a part of the Red Army. Among the last airplanes to be delivered to the army before the USSR��_��__s collapse in 1991 was this huge Antonov AN-124 ��_��__Ruslan��_��__. At the end of the 70s, it was designed as a big cargo plane for the Soviet army and - with a take-off weight of more than 400 tons ��_��__ was the world��_��__s biggest aircraft at its maiden flight on December 26,1982. Approximately half of the 56 units produced from 1984 until 1997 (of which, by the way, 49 examples are still operated today) went to the Soviet airforce. The Soviet army��_��__s ��_��__Ruslan��_��__ model carries the simple registration ��_��__10��_��__.
