Lufthansa operated this DC-8-51 with the registration N8008D for six months only. In 1965, the machine was chartered from Trans International Airlines in a so-called ��_wet-lease��_ arrangement because the ordered 707-330Bs could not be delivered on time. Before that, one of the airplane��_s many careers was DC-8 prototype under the name ��_Ship One (item no. 515368). Herpa releases this legendary airplane in the short-lived Lufthansa livery as limited edition.
